White Dishes
I’ve been married for 8 years, and I think one of the things my husband and I got right when we registered for gifts was choosing white dishes. I remember stressing out about which color to choose (those were the good old days–stressed out by a wedding registry!) and being wooed by the bright reds, yellows and blue-and-white stripes. I’m so glad I stuck with white! Inspired by a photo in Martha Stewart Living years and years ago (OK, so I sort of love the woman), I decided that my kitchen would be all-white. Yes, I mix in some color here and there, but I love looking into my cabinets and seeing clean, white dishes stacked high. And, whenever I’m doing a dinner, everything always matches. (P.S. Yes, we have our fair share of ugly mugs in varying colors, which I hide away in a cabinet that can’t be seen!)

Ooh I love your white dishes! Where did you register for them?

Hi Melissa! I registered at Macy’s years ago–they’re just simple Fiesta Ware or is it (Wear?). I also have a ton of random things from thrift stores, Williams-Sonoma, etc. 🙂 xo

We have white china too and for nearly 22 years – we have used this every day to share meals. White china on any table looks simple and clean. We have Royal Copenhagen white and when I registered for it, I loved it then and even more now.

We took the same approach (right down to the mismatched, crazy collection of mugs!) I was just thinking the same thing — I’m really happy we chose the all-white (I, too, was wooed by all the different colors and choices….) Dress them up, use them every day — I love the bistro look of the all-white! It makes me happy, too 🙂
