FAQs
Are you looking for story ideas? Yes! Always! But, pretty please, don’t spam me. What I’m not interested in: press releases about the board member that just was added to company XYZ or the automotive industry’s new survey on motor oil. What I do want: creative, fresh, interesting and timely ideas related to food, diet, weight loss, healthy living, health, fitness, psychology, travel, parenting, etc. And, I loathe voicemail. If you want to get my attention with an idea for one of the magazines I write for or for my Glamour.com blog, Vitamin G, the best way is to email me.
I’m looking for a ghost writer for my book, want to work with me? I’m working on several of my own book projects at present (some of which are merely just ideas on paper, but heck); that doesn’t mean I won’t come up for air for a fabulous project. Want to talk? Email me.
Can I use a photo from your site? If it’s a photo I snapped, you may use it, with attribution. Photos of my kiddos are off limits (for obvious reasons). If it’s a photo taken by a different photographer/blogger, better get their permission first.
My big dream is to be a freelance writer. Can I meet with you/call you and pick your brain? I get asked this question a lot, and I am honored that you want to chat. Due to repeated requests, I now offer one-on-one coaching for new/aspiring writers. I’d be happy to help you learn the basics of breaking into magazines, teach you the secrets to sending a successful pitch, and answer all the questions you’ve always wanted to know about freelance writing. If you’re interested, send me an email about my rates and how to get started.
