I wrote a little something for the MOPS (Mother’s of Preschoolers) email newsletter today (hello MOPS!), so, I feel like giving away a copy of my new novel to one deserving, perhaps overworked mother (like me). For the record, I have three little boys—5 and under. Moms, let’s stick together!
I’m on a book tour this month—and having a blast—but it’s quite something to go on a book tour when you have three young children to care for. Before each trip, I’m making sure everything’s attended to so my little guys are happy and comfy before I go (daddy and grandparents are helping a bunch—and the baby goes where I go, so lots of plane travel with baby!), and that means lots of extra prep work before each trip. Moms, you get this! We work hard (even when we’re not going on a book tour!) and because we all could use time to kick our feet up more and read, I’m giving away a copy of my new novel, The Bungalow, to one mother (at random). I’m also tucking in some chocolate, too, to make it extra special.
Just leave a comment below! I’ll choose a winner this week.
P.S. Not a mama? Don’t worry, I’ll do more giveaways soon!

Please pick me! Loved ur Violets of March!
I’m a momma of an adorable smiley little boy who is going to turn eight months next week. Thank you so much for the chance to win your book!
Cheers!
Amanda
Hi Sarah! I am a mother of 2 and would LOVE to own your new book. I LOVED “The Violets of March”! Have a great time on your book tour
A number of interesting stories can be derived just from reading the comments here, Sarah! (I’m totally with Carrie, whose family just came through the stomach flu–same here, so I can def. empathize. Also with Lisa, who said it might take a page-a-day for a year for we busy moms to read even an enjoyable novel.) Like many readers here, I’m a mom to two lovable preschool-aged pips, ages 2 and 4, boy and girl. Sarah, frankly I don’t get to read much positive or inspirational fiction–it’s usually pretty dark, depressing, and/or tending toward nonfiction on the sister crafts (at least in 2012) of writing and marketing–so The Bungalow would be a welcome change for my brain and emotions! In any case, thanks for the chance & good luck to all.
I would love to read one of your novels! I am a mom of 2 (at least so far).
Hi there, Sarah! I left a comment on your FB page, but I figured I’d leave another here! I’m finishing THE BUNGALOW right now! (like, literally, right now…) and I’m LOVING it! I don’t want it to end! My birthday is September 26, so BLACKBERRY WINTER will arrive just in time! I’m mommy to three kids…and mine were superclose together like you…my oldest was 3 when my third baby was born! I totally get what you mean!…planning a trip with no kids to the grocery store is hard enough, let alone a book tour! Congrats on everything! xoxoxo
It was encouraging to read your post on MOPS that writing is possible with small children. But, I would certainly like to know how you do it. I have a four year old and would love to start writing. By the time I get that precious hour of uninterrupted time, I can barely put two words together.
Wow! Managing three little ones while on book tour also means you managed to WRITE BOOKS with three little ones as well. I’m impressed. I have three not-so-little ones, so I need to get busy and write. (And I’d love to read your new book in between writing sessions.)
I’m the mom of a wonderful 3 year old boy and am looking forward to the end of the work day to catch up with him and all his preschool doings! Thank you for the chance to win your book and all the best on your tour!
Mom of 4, our youngest will graduate high school in May-I need some comfort! Loved your Violets of March-can’t wait for The Bungalow!
Three boys under 5….you truly are a super woman
. I just have the one six year old boy and some days I don’t know how I make it through. I tip my overflowing wine glass to you
.
I checked out your blog through the link from MOPS as well. How inspiring to see the combination of your writing passion and being a mother of young children! I would love to read your new book… when I’m breastfeeding my new little baby (don’t know yet whether it will be a boy or girl, but “it” is arriving in the next few days!)
I got the MOPS newsletter and it made me smile. I too enjoy writing and have had that manuscript on my mind waiting to be completed. But if I try to write when I’m not alone I end up getting cranky and losing my patience with my kids. I realized that it is such a short time that they are little and home with me relative to my whole mothering journey and I can write my heart away when they are in school, which is going to happen before I know it! You’re right- this is my season for being a great mother and this is their season for have a great mom at their disposal!
Hi Sarah, Thanks for your words in the MOPS email. Such encouragement to me. I’m Mom to a very lively and active little 11 mo old boy and maybe because it’s #1 I’m really struggling to find time to do ANYTHING. Thanks for the reminder that this is my season to be a Mom and that I can let go of some other things. Blessings! Oh, I’m also a Seattleite! Maybe I’ll see you at Third Place books some day!
I’m a single mother of one boy, 3.5 years. He’l plenty of work for me and plenty of love too. Is there anything more magical than a little boy?
I saw your article on the MOPS site and your book sounds interesting and I hope I win! Your right, moms have to stick together!!!
I read your MOPS email today. That’s how I found your blog
I LOVE to read!
Hi, Sarah.
I am a mom of two rambunctious and funny little boys, 6 & 16 months, and a member of our small local MOPs group too. I just finished reading Violets of March and thought it was wonderful. The little ones caused me to take several days to read it but had I had more consecutive free time I would have had it done in a day or two. I look forward to reading your next book.
I’m leaving a comment, but I’m too tired to think of anything catchy to say.
I read your newsletter on the MOPS e-mail today! Thank you for inspiring us Mother’s of PreSchoolers!! I have three children (20) (5) and (2). All are challenging, but my 2-year old is surpassing the other two at this point! She has been having BM issues for almost 4 months now. We have been seeing doctors, trying diet things, stool softeners, benefiber, etc., etc. I would LOVE a copy of your book and to ‘get away’ in a story right about now! Thank you:)
I’m a mommy to 3 kids – 8, almost 5, and 2. Would love to win!
I enjoyed reading your insert in the MOPS newsletter! All of us moms speak the same language when we talk about seeking an extra hour to get anything done. Way to go on your fourth book and sticking to it! And, you are right! Taking your boys to the park will be much more important than how quickly you finished your latest book! We all have to remember that this is OUR season to be moms!!

I’m the Mom of two little boys: 2.5 years and 8 months. I’m a journalist (or was, before my boys were born) and I love your site and your work. I just joined a book club. The Bungalow could be my recommendation!
Hi. I’m Mom to a 9 month old delight! I also work from home and go to school part time. I also volunteer at church at least 2 days a week. I am a MOPS leader. Oh boy! Just saying it all makes tired! I am grateful for it all! I love my husband, and son very much! Your newsletter was inspiring today! Thank you!
I’m a mother of two, ages 3 and 8 mos, and I’m always looking for good reads. I haven’t read your books but I just saw your MOPS e-mail. I really CANNOT imagine how you do it! Best wishes on your book tour.
I’m a mom of three and a writer…always wonderful to hear about other mom’s experiences!!
wow! I had never heard of MOPS before, despite being an early childhood special educator. So, I’m visiting a friend down in Florida right now (warming up from CT). She has two little guys. She started telling me about “MOPS”.
Thanks for helping busy moms out by doing a give away!
Hi there! I loved what you wrote for MOPS moms. It was very insipring. As a mom of two 5 and under who just went back to work I know all about juggling acts. Juggling time with kids, MOPS, work, the house etc is a challenge. I just trust in the Lord.
Shannon
Just waned to say I LOVE both your books. I’m currently rereading Violet of March. I can’t wait for your next book. –tina
What a great giveaway!! Have 2 little girls. Youngest just turned 1 last week (sob sob sob) and now am getting that baby itch again! oh boy!!! Best to you on the tour :-}
motherhood is hard and heart work!! my 3, 11 old girl and twin boys 4 1/2, kids are amazing, but somedays i just want them all in bed so i can read!!
I’m NOT a mom, just wanted to leave a comment to say how nice it is for you to give a copy of your book to a mom AND throw in chocolate! Thanks for always being warm and genuine to your many fans+readers! You’re someone I would wanna be friends with in real life! XO
Would LOVE to win! I’m half way through Violets of March and LOVE IT! It’s been a wonderful escape from my two kiddos!
Tonight (Jan 20th) a storm is going to blow through my Brooklyn neighborhood but I won’t care because I’ll be snuggling in bed with my own copy of “Violet’s of March” and my 4 kids will be snoring in bed with visions of Sarah Jio’s latest paperback books dancing in their warm little heads, hoping that maybe this time their mother will finally get lucky and win something!
I’m pregnant with my 3rd boy (YAY for boy moms!) and an aspiring writer. I need to start doing and not “planning on doing”!
I’m a mother of two and a grandmother of five. I even took care of my twin Grandsons from the time they were seven months to one year. Reading has always been my way of relaxing. I’m reading Violets of March for my book club and I’m loving it. Beautifully written and wonderful characters. Thanks so much.
